i had another coby that i bought two years ago. i bought this one [in april of 2011] because i wanted up-converting [1080p output] along with multi-region ability.it seems to function excellently – just like my old coby did.two things of note, if you read previous reviews [or look on the net] for “how-to” info on making this multi-region… well, this one came “all-region” straight out of the box.and, as was mentioned in other previous reviews about changing the region status of this machine – that ability is not listed in the menu of this one. at least not as far as i could find.but it wasn’t necessary as this plays my region 2, 4, and 5 discs, as well as my region 1 discs.my assumption is that coby just decided to quit wasting everyone’s time [as well as their own] and ship the same player all over the world and not worry about the regions.so far, it’s a great upconverting multi-region ntsc/pal player. lots of adjustability with this. it just played a kickass avi that i downloaded off the net.thumbs up!
