Cornet The cornet is very similar to the trumpet, except that is has a more conical bore that gives it a softer sound. Most pieces have a combination of trumpet and cornet parts. All of our the trumpet and cornet players can play both trumpet or cornet. Cornets are also pitched in Bb and have a usual range of two-and-three-quarter octaves.
